Ultima Iv - Quest Of The Avatar (europe) (beta) Game

Ultima IV on the Sega Master System is one of those old-school RPGs that actually makes you think about your choices. Instead of just grinding levels to kill some big bad guy, you're trying to become this legendary "Avatar" by proving you're virtuous—like, actually being honest, compassionate, and brave in the game world. Weirdly deep for an 8-bit title.
First thing you’ll notice? The overworld feels huge, and towns actually have NPCs who react differently based on how you act. Steal something, and they’ll call you out. Help someone, and word spreads. The dungeon crawling’s still there, but combat’s almost secondary to figuring out how to be a decent person. Kinda refreshing, honestly.
It’s janky by modern standards, but there’s something special about a game where the real challenge is your own morality.
