About Trouballs
Trouballs came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Bit Managers and published by Infogrames. It was part of that late era for the handheld, a time when developers were still finding new things to do with the hardware. You control a little round character named Troubs, and your goal is to rescue your friends who have been scattered across the land. The game is structured screen by screen, with each area presenting a self contained puzzle.
You move Troubs through these environments, pushing blocks and activating switches to clear a path forward. The main mechanics involve careful positioning; you can kick certain objects to trigger chain reactions, and you must avoid enemies since you have no direct way to attack them. The pacing is deliberate, asking you to stop and think through each move, and the difficulty comes from predicting how your actions will affect the entire layout of the screen. It feels like a quiet, thoughtful test of your planning skills.
