About Triple Play 2001 (usa, Europe)
Triple Play 2001 came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Treyarch and published by EA Sports. It was part of a wave of sports titles trying to capture the feel of console baseball on a handheld, a common goal for the platform at the time.
You control a full baseball team, managing batting, pitching, and fielding to win games. The main objective is to outscore your opponent across nine innings. Signature mechanics include a timing-based swing system where you press a button as the pitch crosses the plate, and fielding that requires you to move players into position to catch pop flies or scoop up grounders. The pacing is quick, with games moving faster than a simulation, but the difficulty can spike with fast pitches. It feels like a condensed arcade version of a full baseball game, fitting for short sessions.
