Man, Toy Story 2 on Game Boy Color takes me back. You start off as Buzz, jumping around Andy’s room with that classic chunky GBC color palette—bright blues and yellows everywhere. The controls feel surprisingly tight for a licensed game, though some of the later platforming gets tricky when you’re bouncing between toy cars and stacks of books.
What’s cool is how they mixed up the gameplay. One minute you’re doing standard jumps, the next you’re in a shooter section with Buzz’s laser, or solving little puzzles to unlock doors. The Al’s Toy Barn levels are where it really shines—sneaking past those squeaky floorboards as Woody actually feels tense, even on this tiny screen.
Yeah, it’s definitely aimed at kids, but there’s enough challenge (and nostalgia) to keep it fun if you grew up with these characters. Just don’t expect it to hold up like a proper Mario game—it’s a solid licensed platformer with some legit Toy Story charm.
