Top Gun: Fire Storm on the Game Boy Color is one of those classic flight combat games that feels surprisingly solid for a handheld title. You jump straight into the cockpit, picking from a few different jets (the F-14 is my go-to) before diving into missions that mix dogfighting with ground strikes. The controls take a second to get used to—rolling with shoulder buttons feels weird at first—but once it clicks, weaving through missile locks and lining up shots on enemy bombers is oddly satisfying.
It’s got that late-90s arcade vibe where everything’s a little pixelated but still fast-paced, and the soundtrack tries its best to hype you up with chiptune energy. Some missions drag if you’re stuck hunting down the last hidden target, but blowing up carriers never gets old. Definitely a nostalgia trip if you’re into retro flight games.
