About Toonsylvania
Toonsylvania came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by DreamWorks Interactive and published by Activision. It was part of that wave of games based on animated shows, a common sight on the handheld during that period. You step into the role of Phil, the hunchbacked assistant, navigating through the spooky, cartoonish world of the series.
You guide Phil through side scrolling levels, using a simple jump to avoid enemies and pits. The main goal is to rescue your master, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, who has been kidnapped. You collect items like bones and keys to unlock new areas, and you occasionally switch to controlling the dog, Iggy, to access smaller passages. The game moves at a steady pace, but some platforming sections require precise timing. Playing it feels like a straightforward trip through a familiar, monster themed cartoon.
