Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 arrived on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Neversoft Entertainment. This portable version translated the console skateboarding experience to the smaller screen during a time when handhelds were becoming a serious platform for action games.
You control a professional skater, navigating compact levels to complete specific goals for characters scattered around each area. Your main objective is to finish a set number of these tasks, which range from collecting objects and achieving high scores to performing tricks on specific structures. Signature mechanics include chaining together tricks to build a multiplier for huge combos and using manuals to link moves across flat ground. The game moves quickly, demanding precise timing to land complex lines, and the difficulty ramps up as you progress. It feels satisfying to finally nail a long combo after several failed attempts.
