Ever wanted to drive a bulldozer through a pile of dirt as a kid? Tonka: On The Job on GBA lets you do exactly that—minus the actual dirt in your living room. You start off with simple jobs like hauling bricks or clearing rubble, but things get surprisingly tricky when you have to maneuver a crane just right to drop steel beams without tipping over.
The controls take a minute to get used to—especially backing up the dump truck—but once you get the hang of it, there’s something weirdly satisfying about lining up a perfect scoop with the excavator. The graphics are bright and chunky, exactly how you’d expect a GBA game about construction trucks to look, and the missions keep throwing new obstacles at you, like tight deadlines or wonky terrain.
It’s not exactly a deep sim, but if you ever made engine noises while pushing a toy truck around, this one’s a nostalgia trip. Just don’t expect to put it down after one job.
