Okay, so Tomb Raider on Game Boy Color is way more impressive than it has any right to be. You’ve got Lara doing her thing—jumping across crumbling platforms, pulling levers to open ancient doors, and occasionally getting mauled by bats because the controls take some getting used to. The puzzles are surprisingly clever for a handheld game from this era, and the isometric view gives it this weirdly charming board game vibe.
Don’t expect the sprawling 3D tombs of the PlayStation version, but there’s something satisfying about how condensed it all feels. You’ll still get lost, still panic when spikes shoot out of the floor, and yeah, you’ll probably yell at the screen when you miss a jump for the fifth time. It’s janky in that very specific late-90s handheld way, but if you’re into retro stuff, it’s a solid little adventure. Just maybe keep a walkthrough handy for the obnoxious bits.
