Tom and Jerry Tales on the GBA nails that chaotic energy from the cartoons—you're either chasing or being chased, and it's way more fun than it has any right to be. The first level throws you right into it: Jerry dodging teacups Tom hurls across a kitchen, or Tom getting smacked with a frying pan when you least expect it. The animations are surprisingly smooth for a handheld game, too—Jerry’s little scamper when he’s about to get caught never gets old.
It’s not just mindless running, though. Some levels have you setting up traps or solving simple puzzles, like stacking books to reach a key or luring Tom into a mousehole ambush. The music’s all bouncy and playful, exactly what you’d hope for, though after a while you might mute it and hum the classic theme song to yourself instead. If you’ve got a soft spot for the cartoon or just want something silly to kill time, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t blame me when you start side-eyeing your cat afterward.
