About Titeuf
I remember picking up Titeuf for the Game Boy Color around 2000, a time when licensed games based on European comics were finding their way to handhelds. It was published by Infogrames, later known as Atari, and it felt like a natural part of that era's library, an attempt to capture the spirit of Zep's popular comic series in a portable adventure. You don't see many games like it anymore, but back then it was just another cartridge you'd swap in hoping for a fun distraction.
In the game, you control Titeuf, the spike-haired kid, navigating through side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to rescue Titeuf's friend Nadia, which involves running, jumping across platforms, and avoiding various neighborhood hazards. A couple of mechanics stand out: you collect hearts to maintain your health, and you use a slingshot to hit targets and defeat enemies like bullies or pesky animals. The pacing is generally straightforward, though some jumps require precise timing, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. Playing it feels like a brisk, sometimes clumsy, walk through a Saturday morning cartoon.
