EA Sports brought Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 to the Game Boy Advance in 2003, a time when sports sims on handhelds were becoming more ambitious. This version offered a portable golf experience distinct from its console siblings, fitting a full round into moments between other activities.
You control a golfer, either Tiger himself or a custom player, aiming to win tournaments by posting the lowest score. The core of the game is the three-click swing meter; you press a button to start the meter, again to set power, and a final time to determine accuracy. You manage your golfer's position on the course, select the right club for each shot, and read the green's slopes for putts. The pacing is deliberate, demanding focus on every shot, and the difficulty ramps up as you face tougher courses and opponents. It feels satisfying to sink a long putt after carefully judging the break.
