About Tiger Woods Pga Tour 2000
I picked up Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2000 for my Game Boy Color back in 1999. It was published by THQ and developed by Tiertex, a studio that made a lot of handheld sports titles. For a golf game on that little cartridge, it was a solid attempt to bring a full course into your hands, fitting right in with other portable sports games of the time.
You control Tiger Woods himself, aiming to win tournaments by shooting the lowest score. The core of the game is selecting your club, adjusting your aim for wind and terrain, and then executing a three-click swing meter for power and accuracy. You navigate each hole screen by screen, plotting your path from the tee to the green, and the main challenge comes from reading the pixelated greens for your putts. The pacing is deliberate, requiring careful thought on every shot, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably on the later courses. It feels satisfying to sink a long putt after planning your whole approach.
