I picked up The Spongebob Squarepants Movie for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a time when movie tie-in games were a common sight on the handheld. THQ published it, and it was one of many platformers trying to capture the show's humor on a small screen. You control Spongebob, and sometimes Patrick, on a quest to retrieve King Neptune's stolen crown to clear Mr. Krabs's name.

You move through levels screen by screen, jumping on jellyfish and bouncing off tires. The main goal is to collect enough golden spatulas to progress, which involves a lot of straightforward platforming and simple combat, mostly just a basic bubble blow to stun enemies. The levels are generally short, and the difficulty is pretty forgiving, making it easy to pick up for a few minutes at a time. It feels like a simple, cheerful run through Bikini Bottom.
