I picked up The Original Harlem Globetrotters for the Game Boy Advance, a game that never saw a formal retail release. It was developed by an independent group, and it feels like a product of its time, a straightforward sports title made for a handheld system where quick, simple games were the norm.
You control the entire Globetrotters team on the court, passing and shooting to outscore your opponents. The main goal is to win each basketball game, but the game tries to incorporate the team's famous showmanship. You can attempt trick passes and flashy dunks, mechanics that are supposed to set it apart from a standard sim. The pacing is fast, though the controls can feel a bit stiff, making some of the trick moves difficult to pull off consistently. It feels like a basic arcade basketball game with an extra layer of flair that doesn't always connect.
