I picked up The Lost Vikings for Game Boy Advance back in 2003, a time when the handheld was full of ports and puzzle platformers. It was published by VU Games, and it's a conversion of the original Blizzard game from a decade earlier. This version landed right in the middle of the GBA's life, a solid puzzle adventure that didn't rely on flashy graphics.

You control three Vikings, Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout, switching between them to solve environmental puzzles. Each has a unique ability: Erik runs fast and jumps, Baleog fights with a sword and bow, and Olaf blocks attacks with his shield. The goal is to guide all three to the exit in each level, navigating hazards, hitting switches, and collecting keys. The game progresses screen by screen, demanding careful planning as you use their skills in combination. It's a methodical game, often difficult, where a single mistake can force a restart. Juggling the three characters to overcome each obstacle feels genuinely clever when a plan comes together.
