Okay, so The Little Mermaid: Magic in Two Kingdoms is basically what you'd expect from a GBA Disney game—bright, bubbly, and way more fun than it has any right to be. You start off as Ariel, obviously, swimming around collecting shells and pearls while Sebastian nags at you in that tiny GBA speaker voice. The underwater controls take a second to get used to—you’re not just running left to right, you’re dodging jellyfish and weaving through coral.
What’s cool is you actually switch between Ariel and Melody (her daughter) at certain points, and their abilities feel different enough to keep things interesting. Ariel’s faster in the water, but Melody’s got this little magic sparkle attack that’s weirdly satisfying to use on those annoying eels. The levels are short but packed with little secrets—like, who knew Flounder could hide so many trinkets in a single kelp forest?
It’s not gonna blow your mind with difficulty, but the art’s charming, the music’s nostalgic, and honestly? It’s a solid way to kill an afternoon if you’re into Disney or just want something lighthearted. Just don’t expect Ursula to put up much of a fight.
