I first played The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning on my Game Boy Advance back in 2006. It was developed by Krome Studios, and it arrived during a time when the handheld was full of platformers and action games trying to capture that console feel. This title was a deliberate reboot for the purple dragon, moving the series into a more story driven, combat focused direction.

You control Spyro through linear, side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to battle the forces of the dark master Malefor and his commander, Cynder. The gameplay revolves around a few key actions: you use a basic melee attack for close enemies and, more importantly, you aim and shoot different elemental breaths like fire, ice, and electricity. You collect gems scattered throughout the stages to upgrade these breath attacks and your health. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some enemy encounters can feel repetitive after a while. It feels like a simplified brawler built for quick sessions on the go.
