About The King Of Fighters Ex2 - Howling Blood (e)(rising Sun)
The King of Fighters EX2: Howling Blood came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by SNK Playmore. It arrived when the handheld was full of ambitious fighting games trying to capture the feel of their arcade cousins. This was the second KOF title on the system, and it introduced a few characters that hadn't appeared in the main series before.
You control a team of three fighters, swapping them in and out to battle through a series of one-on-one matches. Your main goal is to win the tournament, defeating all the other teams you encounter. Key mechanics include building up a super meter for powerful Desperation Moves and using a tactical roll to evade attacks. The pacing is fast, with matches that can feel quite difficult if you don't master the timing for counters and special moves. It feels like a condensed, portable version of the arcane duels you'd find in the arcades, demanding quick reflexes and a good memory for each character's move set.
