Okay, so The Haunted Mansion on GBA is way spookier than I expected for a handheld game. You start off in this creepy hallway with flickering candles, and the music? Absolute chills—like someone’s humming a funeral dirge just out of earshot. The ghosts don’t just jump-scare you, either; some of them float around whispering nonsense, and half the time I wasn’t sure if I should run or try to talk to them.
The puzzles are actually pretty clever—like, one room had portraits where the eyes followed me, and I had to rearrange them to match some hidden pattern. Took me forever to figure it out. And yeah, it nails that Disney ride vibe with the stretching portraits and the creepy singing busts, but it’s got its own thing going too. Just don’t play it alone at night unless you enjoy nervously laughing at shadows.
If you’re into slow-burn horror with a side of nostalgia, this one’s a solid pick. The atmosphere alone is worth it.
