Man, The Great Battle Pocket on Game Boy Color takes me back. You start off with this tiny pixelated hero—or one of a few other classic characters—and just dive straight into these weirdly addictive side-scrolling brawls. At first, it feels like a simple beat-em-up, but then you hit these little puzzle sections that make you stop and think for a second.
The sprites are chunky in that perfect GBC way, and the music’s got that classic bleep-bloop energy. I remember getting stuck on this one boss fight for way too long before realizing I had to use the environment, not just brute force. Not gonna lie, some of the platforming can be janky, but that’s part of the charm. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro handheld chaos, this one’s a solid time capsule.
