I picked up Tetris Worlds for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a version published by THQ. It was one of many puzzle games on the system, arriving at a time when having a portable version of Tetris felt almost essential. This particular release tried to expand on the basic formula with a few new ideas.

You control the familiar falling tetromino shapes, rotating and shifting them to create solid horizontal lines that then vanish. The main goal remains clearing lines to prevent the stack from reaching the top of the playfield. This version introduced mechanics like the ability to hold a piece in reserve for later use and special modes that altered gravity or added new objectives, such as clearing a set number of lines under specific conditions. The pacing starts gently but the speed can ramp up quickly, demanding faster decisions. It feels satisfying to lock pieces into place and watch multiple lines disappear at once.
