About Tekken Advance (e)(independent)
Tekken Advance arrived on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Namco. It was a time when getting a 3D fighting game to run smoothly on the handheld felt like a minor miracle, and this title was one of the attempts to bring that arcade experience on the go.
You control one of several fighters, like Jin or Paul, and your goal is to win a series of one-on-one matches to become the champion. The core mechanics are simplified from the main series; you have a basic four-button setup for limbs and can execute a limited set of each character's signature moves. The game features a side-stepping mechanic to dodge attacks and a special mode where you can customize your character's stats. The pacing is fast, and the AI can be surprisingly aggressive, making you rely on quick reflexes and a few reliable combos. It feels like a condensed, pocket-sized version of a brawl.
