Okay, so Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 is one of those GBA RPGs that flew under the radar—probably because it never got an official English release until fans translated it. But man, it's got that classic Tales charm with a twist.
You start by picking two characters to merge into one hero (sounds weird, but stick with me). I went with a swordsman and a mage at first, which made for some hilarious mismatched outfits but surprisingly solid stats. The dungeons are bite-sized at first, just enough to get you hooked before throwing curveballs like traps and shifting layouts.
Combat’s the usual Tales-style real-time action—button mashing works early on, but later enemies actually make you think about positioning and combos. And yeah, the translation’s a little rough in spots (someone really loved the word "hence"), but the goofy dialogue and item descriptions kinda add to its charm.
If you’ve got a soft spot for early 2000s RPGs with janky but heartwarming localization, this one’s a solid time capsule.
