Tak and the Power of Juju is one of those GBA platformers that just oozes charm. You play as Tak, this scrawny little shaman-in-training, and the whole thing feels like a Saturday morning cartoon—bright colors, goofy characters, and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The Pupanunu villagers are counting on you to fix their mess, which mostly involves jumping across floating logs, whacking things with a staff, and collecting these weird little Juju spirits that give you powers.
What I love is how the game doesn’t just throw you into mindless hopping—there’s actual tribal puzzles, like herding sheep (badly) or tricking enemies into falling off cliffs. The controls are tight, and the art style holds up surprisingly well for a GBA title. Just don’t expect it to be super hard—it’s more about the vibe than punishing difficulty.
If you’ve got a soft spot for early 2000s platformers with personality, this one’s a solid pick.
