Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation was kind of a big deal when it hit the GBA—first time the series got an official English release, so no more squinting at fan translations. You jump right into grid-based tactical battles with a roster of mechs that all feel surprisingly distinct—some are beefy tanks, others zip around sniping. The story’s packed with anime-style drama between pilots, and I remember getting weirdly invested in which characters I paired up for combo attacks.

Early on, you’re thrown into this chaotic fight where your squad’s outnumbered, and the game doesn’t hold your hand much. Took me a couple tries to realize positioning matters way more than raw firepower. Also, the sprite work still holds up—those attack animations where mechs clash swords or unload missile barrages never get old. If you’re into turn-based strategy with flashy robots, this one’s a solid time capsule.
