Super Puzzle Fighter II was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, a time when the handheld was becoming a hub for arcade conversions. This version, developed and published by Capcom, brought the company's competitive puzzle game to a portable screen.
You control one of several Capcom characters, like Ryu or Chun-Li, represented as small chibi figures at the bottom of the screen. Your main objective is to outlast your opponent by clearing your own playfield of falling colored gems. The core mechanics involve matching two same-colored gems with a corresponding crash gem, which then sends counter-gems over to your rival's side. You can also build and detonate large, multi-colored combos to overwhelm them with a single massive attack.
