Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts on GBA is brutal in the best way—you’re Arthur, a knight in literal heart-patterned boxers, chucking lances and dodging zombies like your life depends on it (because it does). The first level lulls you in with some basic skeletons, then suddenly you’re getting dive-bombed by harpies while the ground crumbles under you. Classic Capcom cruelty.
What’s wild is how good it feels despite the pain. The controls are tight, the pixel art oozes gothic charm, and that soundtrack? Hauntingly catchy. Just don’t expect to beat it in one sitting—you’ll replay the whole game twice just to get the real ending. Worth the rage if you’ve got the patience for old-school punishment.
