About Super Collapse! Ii
I first played Super Collapse! II on my Game Boy Advance back in 2002. It was published by GameHouse, a name I recognized from their PC puzzle games. At the time, the GBA was full of platformers and RPGs, so having a straightforward block-matching puzzle game felt like a nice change of pace. It wasn't trying to be a big adventure; it was just a solid, portable puzzle experience.
You don't control a character, you just interact directly with the board. The main goal is to clear all the colored blocks from the screen by matching three or more of the same color in a row. The core mechanics involve selecting groups to remove them, which causes the remaining blocks above to fall down and potentially create new matches. You also have to manage a rising floor that slowly pushes the blocks upward, adding pressure as you play. The game starts simply but the speed and complexity ramp up quickly across its many levels. It feels satisfying to set off a long chain reaction and watch the screen clear in moments.
