Super Chinese Fighter Ex Game

Super Chinese Fighter EX is one of those Game Boy Color fighters that somehow punches way above its weight. The sprites are chunky and full of personality—like, the way your character's hair bounces when they jump is weirdly satisfying. At first glance, it feels like a standard 2D brawler, but there's a surprising amount of depth once you start experimenting with combos. I remember getting wrecked by the AI until I figured out the timing for counterattacks.
What I love is how each fighter actually plays differently. The big bruisers hit like trucks but move like they're stuck in molasses, while the speedy characters can dance around—if you're good at dodging. And yeah, the special moves are ridiculous in the best way. Nothing beats landing a flashy super move just as your opponent thinks they've got you cornered.
It's not perfect—the music loops get old fast—but for a handheld fighter from this era, it holds up way better than it has any right to. Definitely a hidden gem if you're into retro brawlers.
