Summon Night Craft Sword Monogatari - Hajimari No Ishi (j)(caravan) Game
📅 2003 ✍️ Banpresto

Summon Night Craft Sword Monogatari is one of those GBA hidden gems—part tactical RPG, part crafting sim, with that classic Banpresto charm. You start off picking between two protagonists (I went with the sword-wielder because, well, swords), and before long you're diving into grid-based battles where positioning actually matters. The crafting system's surprisingly deep—you'll be scavenging materials mid-battle just to upgrade your gear later.
What really stuck with me was the weirdly cozy vibe. Between fights, you're chatting up party members at the workshop or choosing which summon beast to bond with (pro tip: the fire lizard carries early game). The spritework's crisp, and the music's got that perfect GBA-era synth warmth. It's the kind of game you play with the volume up.
Definitely more strategy-heavy than your average action RPG, but rewarding if you like tinkering with builds. Just don't expect an English patch—this one's Japanese-only.
