About Streets Of Rage Ii
Streets of Rage II came out on the Sega Master System, published by Sega. It was a time when side scrolling beat 'em ups were common, and this was one of the few available on the 8 bit system. The game was developed by Ancient, a company known for their work on Sonic titles.
You control one of two characters, Axel or Blaze, as you walk from left to right through city streets. Your main goal is to fight through waves of enemies to rescue your friend, Mr. X. The signature mechanics include a basic attack combo, a special move that costs a bit of health, and the ability to call in a police car for a screen clearing attack. The pacing is brisk, with new enemies appearing frequently, and the difficulty can be punishing if you are not careful with your positioning. It feels satisfying to land a full combo and watch an enemy crumple.
