Star X came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2000, a time when handhelds were full of sprite based adventures. I don't recall the developer offhand, but it was one of those space shooters that felt right at home on the system. You pilot a small, nimble starfighter through a series of side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to survive the enemy onslaught and defeat the boss waiting at the end of each sector. The core loop involves navigating tight corridors, dodging intricate bullet patterns, and collecting power ups that change your ship's weapon; you might get a spread shot, a laser, or homing missiles. The game is methodical, demanding you learn enemy placements and attack timings to progress.
