I picked up Stadium Games for the Game Boy Advance back when it was new, a title from a smaller publisher that fit right in with the handheld's library of pick up and play sports titles. It was a time when you could find all sorts of these compilations, and this one promised a few different events in a single cartridge. It didn't have the big name recognition of some other games, but it was there, ready to kill some time.

You control an athlete across a handful of events, things like sprinting, hurdling, and javelin. The main goal is simply to win each event, improving your times and distances. The mechanics are straightforward; you mash buttons for speed in the running events, and time your releases for the throwing ones. It's a game of quick reflexes and rhythm more than deep strategy. The pacing is fast, with each event lasting only a minute or so, but nailing the timing for a perfect javelin throw can be surprisingly tough. It feels like a quick, physical challenge you can jump into for a few minutes at a time.
