About Spyro : Season Of Ice
Spyro: Season of Ice came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was part of that first wave of GBA titles trying to bring a 3D console feel to a handheld screen. You got a pocket-sized dragon adventure, which felt pretty ambitious at the time, even if the hardware had its limits.
You control Spyro, the purple dragon, and your main goal is to rescue fairy companions who have been frozen and scattered across different worlds. The gameplay is built around exploring levels screen by screen, using Spyro's signature charge and flame breath to defeat enemies and break open chests. A big part of the game is collecting items like gems and dragonflies; you need a certain number to unlock new areas. The pacing can feel a bit slow because some levels require a lot of backtracking to gather everything. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes repetitive collect-a-thon from that era.
