I picked up Spy Vs. Spy for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a release from Vatical Entertainment. It was a time when portable games were really leaning into two player link cable stuff, and this one was built for that. The whole thing is based on the MAD Magazine comic, so you get that familiar black and white spy versus spy look, even on the small screen.

You control one of the two spies, either the one in black or the one in white. Your main goal is to explore a multi room building, find a set of items, and then escape via an airplane before your opponent does. The signature mechanic is the split screen; you see both spies moving simultaneously, which lets you track what the other is doing. You spend your time setting traps like bombs and spring loaded fists in drawers and doors, hoping the other spy triggers them. The pacing is frantic because you are both racing for the same items, and the difficulty comes from predicting your opponent's moves while avoiding their traps. It feels like a tense, chaotic race where one wrong move can cost you the whole match.
