About Spongebob Squarepants And Friends Unite!
I picked up SpongeBob SquarePants And Friends Unite! back when it came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2005. THQ published it, and it was one of those many licensed games that filled the handheld's library. It felt right at home on the GBA, a platform known for colorful, side scrolling adventures based on cartoons.
You control SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and sometimes other characters, switching between them to use their unique abilities. SpongeBob can blow bubbles to trap enemies, Patrick throws his weight around, and Sandy uses her lasso. The main goal is to stop Plankton and the Duplicatotron 3000 by exploring levels screen by screen, solving simple puzzles, and collecting golden spatulas. The pacing is steady, and the difficulty is pretty forgiving, aimed more at younger players. It feels like a straightforward, cheerful trip through Bikini Bottom.
