I picked up SpongeBob SquarePants And Friends: Battle For Volcano Island for the Game Boy Advance back when it came out. It was published by THQ, one of the bigger names for licensed games on that handheld. This was during the GBA's peak, when you'd see a lot of these cartoon based platformers on the system. It fit right in with that crowd.
You control SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy, switching between them to use their unique abilities. SpongeBob can spin attack with his bubble wand, Patrick throws his belly bounce, and Sandy uses her lasso to swing across gaps. The main goal is to stop a villain from using the volcano, so you travel through themed levels like Jellyfish Fields and Rock Bottom. You explore areas screen by screen, collecting golden spatulas and defeating enemies like robots and jellyfish. The pacing is steady, with some tricky platforming sections that require precise jumps. It feels like a straightforward adventure that captures the show's humor and energy.
