About Spirit - Stallion Of The Cimarron (e)(batman)
I picked up Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron for the Game Boy Advance back when it came out. It was a tie in with the animated movie, and I think it was published by THQ. It fit right in with the other licensed platformers on the system, the kind you'd rent for a weekend.
You control Spirit, the wild mustang, through side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to escape from a cavalry fort and then survive in the wilderness. The gameplay involves a lot of running and jumping across canyons and through forests. You can perform a rear up move to kick at enemies like soldiers or mountain lions. There are also sections where you need to outrun a pursuing train, which adds some variety. The pacing is generally quick, though some of the platforming can be tricky to judge. It feels like a straightforward adventure that captures the spirit of the film.
