Man, Spider-Man: Mysterio’s Menace on the GBA is one of those games that just feels like Spider-Man—even on a tiny screen. You start off swinging between rooftops (which, honestly, still looks impressive for a handheld), and within minutes you’re dodging Mysterio’s weirdo illusions while thugs try to jump you from alleyways. The controls are simple—punch, web-swing, wall-crawl—but nailing the rhythm of combat while keeping an eye on his smoke-and-mirrors tricks? That’s where the fun is.
Some of the levels drag a bit (looking at you, sewer section), but the boss fights make up for it—especially when Mysterio starts pulling out his full carnival-of-terror act. And yeah, the graphics are pixelated, but there’s something charming about seeing Spidey’s exaggerated poses mid-swing, like a comic panel come to life. If you’ve got a soft spot for early 2000s handheld action, this one’s a solid pick.
