Spider-Man: Battle for New York on the GBA is one of those rare gems where you actually get to play as the villain—Green Goblin, in this case—and honestly, it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. Swinging around as Spidey feels solid, but chucking pumpkin bombs and cackling maniacally as the Goblin? That’s the real draw here.
The levels are straightforward side-scrolling brawlers with some light platforming, but the Goblin’s glider adds a nice twist—you can hover just out of reach and rain chaos down on enemies. The sprite work is surprisingly decent for a GBA title, and the boss fights (especially against Spider-Man himself) actually feel like proper showdowns.
It’s not the deepest game, but if you’ve ever wanted to wreck New York as Norman Osborn, this is your chance.
