You control Speedy Gonzales through a series of side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to rescue your mouse friends from cages scattered across each stage. The gameplay involves a lot of running and jumping, using your speed to outpace enemies and environmental hazards. You collect cheese wedges for points and can find temporary power ups, like a chili that makes you invincible for a short time. The levels are fairly linear but require careful timing to navigate pits and enemy patterns. The difficulty can be unforgiving, with instant death from falls or enemy contact forcing you to memorize stage layouts. Playing it feels like a quick, frantic dash where every mistake costs you.
