Space Invaders for the Game Boy Color came out in 1999, published by Nintendo. It was part of a wave of classic arcade remakes that tried to update the formula for a handheld screen. This version didn't just copy the original; it built a whole new game around the familiar alien-shooting premise.

You control a laser cannon at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to shoot descending rows of aliens. Your main goal is to clear each screen of invaders before they reach the bottom or you run out of protective barriers. You also collect power-ups that change your shot or grant temporary shields. The pacing is methodical, but the difficulty builds steadily as the aliens get faster and their attack patterns more complex.
