About Space Channel 5 : Ulala's Cosmic Attack
Space Channel 5: Ulala's Cosmic Attack came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, published by THQ. It was a time when handhelds were full of ambitious ports and original titles trying to capture the feel of bigger console games. This one brought the rhythm-action style of the Dreamcast original to a smaller screen, adapting its particular flavor of musical reporting for on-the-go play.
You control Ulala, an aspiring space reporter, and your main job is to rescue captured spectators by mimicking dance commands. The core of the game is watching enemy patterns and then inputting the correct sequence of directional and action buttons to the beat. You explore different themed areas screen by screen, each one a self-contained dance battle against groups of aliens. The pacing is steady, but missing too many beats can quickly end your reporting segment. It feels like a constant, engaging test of your rhythm and memory as you work through each level.
