Space Channel 5 - Ulala's Cosmic Attack (e)(independent) Game
📅 2003 ✍️ Independent

Okay, so Space Channel 5 on the GBA is basically a tiny, handheld version of that weirdly addictive rhythm game where you play as Ulala, the space reporter who dances to save the galaxy. It’s got that same funky Sega charm—bright colors, ridiculous alien enemies, and a soundtrack that somehow makes "up, down, left, right, chu!" feel cool.
At first, I thought the controls might feel cramped on the GBA, but it actually works? You’re tapping buttons to match the beats while aliens try to zap you with their dance moves. Mess up, and Ulala gets stunned—which is both hilarious and frustrating when you’re just one move away from nailing a combo.
It’s not as flashy as the Dreamcast original, but for a portable version, it’s surprisingly faithful. Just don’t expect the full-on spectacle of the console game. The music’s still a bop, though.
