Snowcross came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of late-era Game Boy Color sports games, arriving just as the handheld was making its transition to the Game Boy Advance. You don't see many snowmobile racing games on the system, so it always stood out to me for trying something a bit different within a familiar genre.

You control a rider on a snowmobile, racing through a series of icy tracks against other competitors. The main goal is straightforward: finish in first place across a championship circuit. The handling has a distinct slide to it; you learn to steer into turns early to avoid skidding off the track. You can perform tricks off jumps to earn a temporary speed boost, which becomes crucial for maintaining momentum on the longer courses. The game has a steady pace, but the later tracks get quite narrow and demand precise control. It feels like a constant fight against the physics of the terrain, which makes a clean lap genuinely satisfying.
