Snowboard Champions Game

Snowboard Champions on Game Boy Color is one of those late '90s sports games that somehow nails the arcade feel despite the tiny screen. You pick your rider—I always went with the dude in the neon jacket—and then it's straight to the slopes. The controls are simple: hold A to build speed, tap B to jump, and try not to faceplant on the landing.
What surprised me was how much personality the tracks have. There's this one course with a halfpipe section where you can chain together backflips if you time it right, and the crowd actually cheers when you stick the landing. The races get pretty intense too—AI opponents will totally cut you off near the finish line.
It's not perfect (the trick system feels a bit stiff now), but for a handheld snowboarding game from 1999, it holds up way better than it should. Just don't expect SSX-level tricks.
