About Snoopy Tennis (en,fr,es)
Snoopy Tennis came out for the Game Boy Color in 2001, published by Infogrames. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to bring simple, recognizable characters to the handheld. You did not see many tennis games with the Peanuts crew, so it stood out a little on the shelf, a straightforward sports title for a system known for them.
You control one of the Peanuts characters, like Charlie Brown or Snoopy himself, in a match of tennis against a computer opponent or a friend. The main goal is to win the match by outscoring your rival, returning the ball until they miss. The core mechanics are built around timing your swings; you can perform different shots, like lobs or slices, by pressing the buttons as the ball arrives. The game progresses screen by screen, with the camera following the ball's movement, and you must constantly reposition your character to make a return. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving if your timing is off, especially against later opponents. It feels like a brisk, sometimes frantic back-and-forth that captures the basic tension of a tennis volley.
