Smuggler's Run for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2000, a time when developers were figuring out how to translate big console experiences to the handheld. It was developed by Angel Studios, the same team that worked on the original console version, and it tried to bring that open-world driving feel to a much smaller screen.

You control a smuggler driving a rugged vehicle across large, open maps. Your main job is to pick up illegal cargo from a drop point and deliver it to another location before the timer runs out. The signature mechanics involve navigating treacherous, off-road terrain and a constant cat-and-mouse game with police vehicles that try to ram you off the road or block your path. The game is fast and difficult; the open maps offer some freedom, but the aggressive AI and strict time limits create a real sense of pressure. It feels like a tense, chaotic scramble from one end of the map to the other.
