Okay, so Simple 2960 Tomodachi Series Vol. 2: The Block Kuzushi is one of those GBA games that looks basic at first glance—just break blocks, right?—but ends up weirdly satisfying. The controls are stupidly simple (d-pad and A button, that’s it), but timing your shots to clear the screen before the blocks crush you gets tense fast.
It’s got that early 2000s vibe—bright colors, chunky pixels, and a soundtrack that’s equal parts cheerful and repetitive (in a good way). I thought it’d be mindless, but some levels actually make you pause and plan your shots. And yeah, it’s nostalgic, but not just for nostalgia’s sake—it’s genuinely fun to pick up for a quick session when you’re waiting for the bus or whatever.
If you’ve ever played Arkanoid or Breakout, you’ll feel right at home here. Just don’t blame me when you realize you’ve been playing for an hour straight.
